Wingates Band, are playing with international Euphonium star Dave Thornton in an effort to assist with the remarkable services that Clatterbridge continue to provide.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is one of the largest networked cancer centres in the UK. From ten operating sites across Merseyside and Cheshire the organisation treat over 30,000 patients a year, offering pioneering chemotherapy, radiotherapy and proton therapy treatments.
A member of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre quoted: “Last year Wingates put on a fantastic show (a member of the St George’s Hall team was overheard saying ‘I think these are the best we’ve ever had here!’) and they’re coming back to do it all again! You really don’t want to miss out!”
The Evening will feature an exclusive piece of music arranged for the city, by the bands composer in residence Adam Taylor; previously performed by the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras’ Brass Section. Musical Director, Mr Paul Andrews, has chosen a selection of beautiful music which will include a mixture of traditional, pop, and music from theatre and film; there will be something to suit all tastes.
The 2001 ‘international player of the year’ and ex Wingates Euphonium player, Dr David Thornton, will also be making a special guest appearance, performing as a guest soloist with the band. Dave is regarded as one of the foremost euphonium players and teachers of his generation and has a global reputation as a performer and clinician.
